What these points mean
Points are editorial challenge weights for a specific question. They are not a survey of players, a measure of basketball ability, a live frequency estimate, or official Krillion points. A less prominent historical name may receive more points than a famous star, but the name must still satisfy the question.
A reachable maximum
Every published question includes at least one accepted 100-point answer. Seven rounds therefore have a reachable maximum of 700. Skipping and timeouts add zero. No speed bonus, streak multiplier or random reward is applied.
Why one player can score differently
Scores are normalized within a question’s accepted set. A narrow historical period can produce a different weight from a broad period. Some expert questions have only a few valid names. High point labels in those questions should not be interpreted as statistical percentages.
Fixed versions keep records understandable
Results belong to a specific question-bank version. Changes to accepted names, scope or points create a new version rather than silently changing the meaning of old scores. Local backups retain their version and are not verified leaderboard submissions.
